Cost of living

The cost of living for a student at the University depends on a series of factors, from the type of accommodation to whether the student cooks at home or eats out. In any case, an approximate cost of living would be between € 400 to € 500 per month.

  • Meal in the canteen: 6,00€
  • Breakfast menu: € 2.90
  • Cheap meal at a restaurant: 7€ to 15€
  • Monthly transportation pass: 40€

Before departure

Make sure you have the following documents:

  • Foreign passport or identification document;
  • Visa to study in Portugal
  • Declaration of commitment of subsequent delivery of residence permit;
  • Certificate or Diploma, issued by competent authority, establishing the access condition to higher education in the country of origin;
  • Accommodation in a private apartment or residence agreed with the School;
  • School and / or international health insurance;
  • Currency used in Portugal – Euro

Visa

After submitting your application and paying the required charges (application fee and charge for the Statement for Issuing Visa), you must go to the Portuguese Embassy or the Portuguese Consulate closest to your area of residence.

On the webpage of the Immigration and Borders Service (SEF) you will find all the information about Residence Visa for study and the documents you need to present.

After your arrival in Portugal, your visa, which will be valid for 120 days, will have to be replaced by a Residence Permit. To this effect, you need to go to SEF until one month before the Visa’s expiry date and submit a Certificate of Enrolment at Lusófona University.

When you are in possession of the Residence Permit, , the student may study and work during the period of residence in the country, provided due permission is asked of SEF.
